Happy holidays!

I've decided to slow things down by taking a 'blog break' over Christmas. I thought it was time to pull up a chair and enjoy the Christmas holidays with my children. Not that I'll have time to sit down of course.

If you wish to purchase from my Twinkle Star Art, Etsy or Made It shops over the Christmas holidays, please be patient as orders may take a little longer than usual. 

Leaving three children to entertain themselves unsupervised has proven to have its consequences. In the time it took me to type an email yesterday, my boys had partially cut up our table cloth and drew colourful pictures all over their bodies with non-washable pens (the Christmas colouring pages I gave them were left blank).

Anyway, I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

 

  My children bring love and warmth to our Christmas tree with all their handmade decorations.

Fun-fairy-tastic morning

 

 

4.45 am
I wake up to something gooey and grey-ish squished between two blurry fingers less than an inch from my face.

"What's this Mummy?"

Before examining the suspicious blob, I ask,
"Where did it come from?"

"My nose."

"Of course!" I pass my daughter a tissue.

4.50 am
My sleepy four year old boy wonders into my bedroom.

"Mummy, I really want a baby," he mumbled.

"What time is it?" I grumbled.

"I really, really want a baby sister for Christmas."

"Sweetie, I think Santa has a limited number of babies. Try wanting something more mass produced like hmmm... a Hot Wheels car. I think he'll even manage to bring you that green pencil you asked for earlier in the week... er... where are your clothes darling? Go put on some clothes." 

4.55 am
I hear music from the lounge room.

My six year old boy is having a fun-fairy-tastic time watching fairies twirling and swirling in a circle of fairy grace to the fairy funky beat of his little sister's Fairies dvd.

This is the song he is listening to...

"Oh yeah, yes I am
a fairy dancing girl
Oh yeah! ~ Oh yeah!

Oh fairy dancing girl
come and dance with me
lahhdee daa daa dee-eee..."

5.00 am
I crawl back into bed, sandwich my head between pillows and hope I'm still dreaming.

BrisStyle market experience

 

Here's a glimpse of my display at the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market last Saturday. Being part marketeer novice and part goose, I forgot my framed art which was kind of the whole point of my display. After kicking myself a few times, I got on with the day.

And a fantastic day it was, filled with arty crafty atmosphere. It's lovely to be around so many talented, like minded people. Talking to others about their crazy crafty obsessions makes me feel slightly less abnormal.

I managed to empty my purse before the day started. My Christmas shopping is mostly out of the way after stopping by Selvedge House, Made by Maisie, Denim Days, Rock 'n' Wrap and Little Mary Moo's Place.

A huge thanks to Helen and the BrisStyle girls behind the scenes for making the day a great success. Also thanks to all of you who came along and supported the market and to those who stopped by my stall. I hope there will be many delighted little girls wearing Twinkle Star Art pendants this Christmas.

Lose the training wheels

Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday...

We managed to take away our boy's training wheels today and he was off like the wind!

 

However, before Mr WAF's special milestone was able to sink in, his front tooth was knocked out by his little sister's almighty tackle on the front lawn!

 

You wouldn't believe such a sweet little girl who's not even three yet could knock out her big brother's tooth with one powerful kick.

Looks like the tooth fairy will be stopping by tonight (second time this week!). Gees... I hope she remembers this time. She's known as the 'forgetful fairy' in our house.

Denim Days has been very busy making badges and pocket mirrors from my illustrations over the last couple of weeks. I was so thrilled when they arrived in the post. Thanks Tracey for doing a super job, they look fantastic! 

Twinkle Star Art badges, mirrors, pendants and gift cards will be available to purchase next Saturday at the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market (5th December 9am to 4pm, St Augustine's Church Hall, Racecourse Rd, Hamilton, Brisbane).

Here's something new developing in my studio. I'm making gift cards and envelopes to sell from my Twinkle Star Art stall at the BrisStyle Indie Designer's Market.

I'll be selling them separately and in sets of five, all with matching envelope seals.

 

 

What did I learn today?

1. The tediousness of making envelopes by hand should be seriously considered prior to commencing.

2. Blue play dough is unsurprisingly difficult to remove from tongue and teeth of a two year old.

3. Invite a two year old over to peer pressure your child into doing wee wees on the toilet is successful.

4. After failing to respond to 'Mummy!' three times, my children will resort to using 'A M A N D A!!!'.
